I have driven past the Clark County Museum numerous times, but I have never stopped in to tour the facilities. Since it was almost the end of another year, I decided this would be a good time to cross the Museum off of my bucket list items.
The museum is owned and operated by Clark County and includes a lot more than just the Exhibit Hall and Heritage Gallery. Just outside of the main museum building is a "ghost town" that includes a collection of original buildings, mining and farm equipment, railroad paraphernalia, Heritage Street of homes, period area items, and a hiking trail.
Items in the Exhibit Hall are historically arranged, starting with minerals, ice age plants/animals, Indian cultures, prospectors, gaming in Nevada, and airlines at McCarran Airport.

As we exited the museum, there was a beautiful display of fall colors along the museum wall.

Originally, this door was on a building at Scotty's Castle in Death Valley. Edith Barcus worked at Scotty's Castle and salvaged the door after it had been thrown away. The glass windows came from a wrecked Pierce-Arrow automobile found in the Goldfield dump.

When we were first married, we lived in a trailer like this one. It looks like they even found a picture of me eating a TV dinner at the table. |
