Greg and Suzanne rented a house in the Tucson area for part of the winter; so we spent a weekend visiting them, along with Mary, Darcy, Nik and family. While we were at Nik's house, we enjoyed a violin concert and a tour of plants around their yard.

The house Greg rented was in Green Valley, which is south of Tucson, and just a few blocks from where Mary lives. Greg brought their electric bikes along from Colorado, so I had the opportunity to try ridding one for the first time. I could get addicted to this type of biking because it is a lot easier when going long distances and up hills. We toured the neighborhood, admiring all of the large Saguaro cacti.
The Butterfly Lady gave us a tour of Desert Meadows Park, which was close to her house. It was a great time to visit the park because many of the desert flowers were in bloom. In addition to desert plants, there were also a number of totems located throughout the park.

We also hiked around Canoa Lake, an artificial lake on Canoa Ranch that is known as an excellent birding area. Although I have visited Canoa Lake before, I did not realize that there was a hiking trail on the north side of the lake that looped around a cienega. Since the weather was nice we hiked around the entire loop and while on the hike we saw what I think was a Blue Heron. (The Butterfly Lady looked through her binoculars and told me what type of bird it was, but I forgot to write it down. I used a telephoto lens to take a picture, but I needed a lens with a more powerful magnification.)
In the movie Oklahoma, the surrey scene was filmed here as the surrey passed by the lake.
Following our hike, we had a great lunch at Elvira's that is located just north of historic Tubac. John and Connor drove up from Sierra Vista to join us for lunch. Kolohe, being an avid Alabama fan, thought Connor should take off his shirt and use it for a door mat.
Before leaving, we drove up to Darcy's house that is in the north part of the Tucson Metropolitan Area. Since she moved from Phoenix to Tucson recently, this is the first time that we have seen her new house. She also has some really unusual cacti in her yard.
