The Bristlecone Loop hike starts at the Mt. Charleston Ski Resort parking lot in the Spring Mountains and is named for the many Bristlecone Pine Trees found in the area. This is a great summer hike, but the disadvantage for day-hikers is that your Las Vegas body has trouble adjusting to the high altitude. The trail is in good condition and over half of the hike follows an old abandoned road.
The blooming season for wild flowers is short, but by mid-summer the colors are great.
