RonnieAdventure #0381 - Welderup Rat Rods, Las Vegas, Nevada

Welderup is a builder of "Rat Rods," so visitors not familiar with "Rat Rods" may be surprised when visiting the Garage and Museum. The definition of a "Rat Rod" is: "A custom car with a deliberately worn-down, unfinished appearance, typically lacking paint, showing rust, and made from cheap or cast-off parts. These parts can include non-automotive items that have been repurposed, such as using a rifle as a gear shifter, wrenches as door handles, and old saws as sun visors. A 'Rat Rod' may or may not have extraneous decorations, but will always exude a great deal of personality due to the imagination required of the builder."

The Welderup showroom can be visited for free, but it is fairly expensive to take a guided tour of the museum; so I elected to just visit the showroom.

Some vehicles on display have yet to be converted to "Rat Rods." Did I mention that "Rat Rod" garages are not necessarily the cleanest and most organized places.

No automotive garage is complete without a Batmobile!

Also, every automotive garage has to have a display of signs and other paraphernalia.

I'm not sure what Evil Kineviel has to do with "Rat Rods," but there are also a number of Evil Kineviel items on display, including one of Evil's "Skycycles" and an "Evil Kineviel Dragster."

Outside of the showroom there is a Kenworth truck waiting for restoration, a motor home with a wild paint job, and an old historic outside jail with two cells.

After viewing the Welderup Rat Rod display, I decided that for the next few weeks I will use Bonus Pictures to show some of my car collection with their beautiful natural patinas and displayed in an outdoor setting of South Dakota grasses and weeds. (At one time I had 21 vehicles, but over the years I have sold the best ones.)
