RonnieAdventure #0197 - Arizona, 2016 Part VIII

The Commemorative Air Force Airbase Arizona is located at Mesa's City Airport (Falcon Field) and contains an amazing collection of historic aircraft. I only had half a day to spend in the museum, but one could easily spend all day looking at the planes and watching old movies. (Rides are available in a number of the aircraft, but you have to call for dates and times)

Pioneer Park is a popular family destination, and much to my surprise, the old steam locomotive has now been fenced to keep people from climbing on the engine. When our kids were young, they always enjoyed climbing on the locomotive and playing with the various leavers.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon Church) has a temple located directly across the street from Pioneer Park. The Temple is not open to the public, but there is a free visitor center with various movies and displays.

Many people visit the Temple grounds just to view the various flowers that surround the Temple and the Visitor Center. There are always flowers in bloom because some of the flowers are changed seasonally. There is also an annual Easter Pageant on the front lawn that is really spectacular. Unfortunately, we had to head for home!
