RonnieAdventure #0120 - Hall of Flame, Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona

If you like to look at historic firefighting equipment, the Hall of Flame Fire Museum in Phoenix (Arizona) is the place to visit. The museum is dedicated to the preservation of historical fire fighting equipment used around the world - and they have a lot of it!

The museum has five exhibit bays, plus the National Firefighting Hall of Heroes gallery. Four exhibit bays are arranged by date, starting with Hand & Horse Drawn equipment, then moving into Motorized Apparatus, and one bay is dedicated to Wildland Firefighting. Some of the early horse-drawn apparatus look like princess' carriages right out of the Walt Disney movies.

The oldest piece of equipment is from 1725 and the newest fire truck is from 1969. If you are so inclined, you can climb aboard a 1951 American La France Fire Engine, put on a fireman’s hat, and have your picture taken.

The firefighting equipment is primarily from the United States, but there is also equipment from England, France, Austria, Germany, and Japan. Most of the major US metropolitan areas are represented; e.g., Miami, Burlington, Pierre, Hotchkiss.
